I have a Winchester lever .22 that is a blast to shoot I also purchased a used CMMG conversion for the AR and as long as you clean it regularly it works just fine.

No sir. I just bought a 10/22 Takedown about two weeks ago. Still a very popular rifle, a classic, still very fun to shoot.
Henry survival .22lr. packs up, and it’s so much fun to shoot! Just a great fun firearm! Give it a look.

I want to specify, if I were to buy someone their first rifle, I would buy a 10/22. If I was looking for a good varmint 22 I would get a 10/22. If I was looking for a fun rifle, I would get something different because fun can be relative. I’d personally get the lever action if one wasn’t looking at the AR platform as a training tool.
