This article made me laugh! Some are bringing parents to their interviews for support…really.
Yeah, got more than a few. I work in a shop building allison transmissions. A lot of young guys working there.
Most i can do without, some though are hard workers. I talk to them and overall the hard workers have a mentality that they want to do better than their parents. Most are trying to save up for a home, start a family, etc.
The worthless ones talk about buying a new game controller for their room in the parents basement.
Rest assured, good ones are out there. It all goes to parenting
One thing I agree about GenZ:
In many countries, Gen Z youth are more likely to be diagnosed with intellectual disabilities and psychiatric disorders.
I cannot work with those people… they think they know better… not knowing anything… and I don’t want to waste my time to discuss their stupidity…
Thx God, it’s not all of them…
I work with several girls that are, one told me she was concerned about my mental health because I am old, and I work as hard as I do. I told her that I was a Marine and we are mental, we enjoy the suck! we embrace it!
My son is an about to retire MSgt and has dozens of them in his “care”. The never ending freaking stories about them in the military are rolling-on-the -floor funny! I might be enjoying his suffering as a “boss” a little too much though…
I don’t work with any but every time I go shopping 3 out of 5 of the young baggers just don’t get it, I usually just stare at them shaking my head and muttering under my breath until Nancy pokes me in the ribs.
When I do get one that knows what he or she is doing I make a point to complement them.
The older guys usually know what they’re doing.
I worked in an IGA store for 5 years in the 80s so I know how to bag groceries. If here isn’t a bagger I will move to the end of the check-out and bag my own just to piss them off.
These the someone’s who have to have their parents sit their interviews with them?
Hint to HR hirer types, don’t hire them in the first place.
OH $#!t!!! Gen Z??? It just hit me now!!! Aren’t these all our GRANDCHILDREN???
Thank God that I am retired, and don’t have to endure any of this nonsense!
I own a Staffing and recruiting business and lets just say these folks are a challenge! My core business is industrial jobs, plants refineries industrial mfg distribution. I laugh at the requirements these folks come to an interview with! Sorry can’t help ya out with your menu of needs that aren’t even close to the job duties?
Welcome to the community @Kelly61
Way too many of these kids are in no way prepared for the real world!
I congratulate you for your tolerance dealing with them!
SALUTE MARINE!
I’m pretty sure the HR office threw a party after I retired. I wouldn’t put up with coddling the snowflakes, or any of that woke nonsense.
Same here, Brother. I work as a service manager at a commercial vehicle repair facility and I have two Gen Z’s working for me. One is an apprentice technician and the other pushes a broom 8 hours a day.
The apprentice got thrown into life through a jail cell and decided he didn’t want any part of that life and changed. He’s doing great. The other guy, not so much. He came to us a s a summer hire, friend of a friend of the family that owns our business, so he got hired with no experience. No experience pushing a broom, that is. He had NEVER had to push a broom and I had to teach him how to do it.
He was only supposed to be with us over the summer then go to school full time. Then he didn’t get accepted at the little college we have in town…I forget the name…the initials are TAMU. The reason he did not get accepted was because his high school life wasn’t all that great. Now I get to deal with him as a full time employee.
Lucky me.
My kids are Gen Z. I guess that makes me part of the problem.
I hope mine are doing better than average. We are trying.
Snowflake kids are often the result of snowflake parenting. We deal with the parents where I work. We have to make adjustments-especially in how we communicate.
@Kelly61 Welcome to the community!
Sounds like some new forum trolls that showed up this year
I’ve seen a chitload of them come and go. None seem to last a year.
I don’t know why… but I always imagined this Community as a group of wise, old folks who enjoyed their quiet lives and nicely discussed firearms and firearm 's training.
Wait…
It was 2 years ago…
I miss that Community…
Yep, we really need to get back to talking about are true passion, guns. What this community was made for and less talking about politics.
