Hey guys. For folks who know about Rossi (now part of Taurus) rimfire rifles, what’s your experience? I have one in a cart at a reseller, but reviews seems to be quite mixed, just like with my beloved Kel-tec firearms.
Are they decent? Any known issues? I know that their service seems to be total crap, so I’ll be on my own for anything that goes wrong. I tried to call them multiple times for simple things and they can’t even seem to run a phone…
Yea but…I already have a Henry I love and a 10/22 that is just fine. Hunting around for something fun. Did a lot of left hand firearm research, but didn’t turn up much that I liked. Definitely Semi or pump. I did see a lot of broken welds where the barrel attaches and am curious if that problem is solved, if they cover it under warranty, and if it was from abuse and not normal use. I’m pretty easy on things. I still own most of my clothes from the 80/90s am a single owner of the car that I love at 210k…so far!
The only Rossi I own is a youth model single shot .22/.410
I keep it as my camping gun. With the barrel removed I can put the stock and both barrels in the water bottle holder on my backpack! And i can carry plenty of ammo for survival hunting if i get lost or stranded.
I’d say my only complaint is the sights on the .22 barrel suck. I’m fairly certain I could get a squirrel with it, but it’s gonna have to be close!
Oh yea. Any details to share, particularly about configurations? I’ve been holding off on the pistol mate to my CMR-30, which I love. And my Henry pump rifle is…awesome.
Mostly about reliability. Seeing so many broken weld pics makes me concerned. That I tried to many times to reach them with some questions and got nothing back tells me all about the company from a support standpoint.
It’ll go to the range a few times a year, so it won’t get heavy use…but it still needs to work. I don’t want to waste the money on that instead of more range time on items I already own.
Walther is behind Hammerli, and the design of the Force B1 is solid (based on the Ruger 10/22). The design of the barrel connection is similar to what is used in industrial pneumatics where pressures run way above what the .22lr or WMR generate. It also uses the standard 10/22 drop in trigger, for which there are multiple high end aftermarket options. The standard 10/22 rotary magazines are arguably the most trouble free out there. The Hammerli Tac R1 .22lr has been out for some time and is rated highly on performance and reliability.
Son has the RS 22? Reliable and is a cousin of a Mossberg semi auto. Mag compatibility. He has a 50 round drum that runs reliably with it. Cheap plinking fun!
Got a Rossi about a year ago and have run about 500 rounds through it with no problems. Did get a scope for it and recently sighted it and resighted the iron sites. Only problem I did have was I ordered 3 extra mags from a different supplier and one would not feed . Had to gently open the front of the top and worked great afterwards. If you research, Rossi makes the Bernelli, or did when I bought mine. Great little plinker.
I discovered that Tippmann and Bear Creek both make .22WMR AR style firearms. Not a lot of choices out of the gate, but thinking that one might be fun. Anyone own one?
Stupid question here, but why has .22 centerfire not replaced .22 rimfire cartridges? I know it exists.
I mean, I recognize there are millions of rimfire firearms out there, but wonder why the .22 centerfire firearms haven’t become the new standard.
