Lots of good points brought up here.
I understand what Will is saying, why does anyone need to carry a Bible around every day?
It’s one more thing to weigh you down daily. Don’t get me wrong, I read the Bible or similar literature every morning. Now when the SHTF, I’ll be carrying a Bible, or at least the New Testament, with me daily.
The Bible I read is called “The Book”, may not be the most precise adoption of the Bible, but it is easy to read, and it reminds me daily of how i should strive to live my life. The same reason I wear a cross around my neck. Reminds me that I’m a Christian, and to conduct myself accordingly. I realize that I’m a sinner, and these things seem to bring myself back to where I should be.
I don’t attend Church anymore, because they seem to be becoming businesses. and as Will said God is in everything around us. The ground we walk on, the air we breathe, the flowers we see and smell. the trees that give us fresh air and shade.
I don’t agree with this however. Who knows how long the earth has been in existence? As far as I can tell, I’m thinking no more than 10,000 years. Who knows? My opinion only.
Believe in God or not, live your life as a good, moral, and ethical person. Carry your Bible if you think it will help you live a good life. It’s all up to us as individuals.
You do you, I’ll do me.
Just stay safe and keep aware. -------- Geno
But there’s lots of observations that we have made about things like how quickly coral reefs grow and die forming limestone.
We can observe sediment building up in lakes and river deltas which eventually become sandstone slate and shale.
We can then look at the layers of different stone in places like the Grand Canyon and come up with a fairly accurate estimate of how long it would take to build up those layers.
Suffice to say, it’s a LOT longer than the few thousand years of recorded human history.
Same can be said for radiation, we have made observations of how quickly or slowly different isotopes decay into something else.
Keep in mind that there are lots of people who are a lot smarter than me who have studied things like radiation their whole lives. Their estimates of these decay rates are extremely accurate.
As for Dino mummies, there are rare instances where soft tissue can be naturally mummified. We find woolly mammoth and rhino mummies in permafrost all the time! Those creatures have been extinct for over 10,000 years, yet they’re so well preserved that scientists are trying to extract DNA and clone them back into existence.
Then there’s the Egyptian mummies, 2-3000 years old and some look like they might wake up!
So, yes soft tissue can endure for thousands of years.
Me too. I’ve heard it’s a rip-off, but each has his own opinion. You can read about Noah, but to see the magnitude of the Ark would be well worth the trip and entrance fee.
Also just south of there near Pigeon Forge Tn. the Knife Factory,( I can’t remember the name). They may not be battle quality knives, I don’t know, But I’d like to see the variety, and how they’re made.
My wife and I are actually planning on taking a trip there either this year or the spring next year. She’s been there and her mom talks about how awesome it is but I have yet to see it.
Let me look through my Iraq deployment stuff. I know that I brought a couple of our Desert Camo Deployment “Combat” King James bibles. If I find one, then it’s yours. They are about 4"×6"×1.25". I also have a couple 2.5"×4"×½" Woodland Camo pocket bibles.
