Thought this was interesting. As a percentage of electric cars on the road as of 2024 it sits at roughly 7%. There is no way we have the infrastructure for this.
Air conditioners use more power than charging an EV. Where was the fear decades ago that the grid wouldn’t be able support air conditioners? Everyone bought an air conditioner and it all worked out just fine, didnt it. Stop listening to lies from Big Oil.
Perhaps, you should read all of the posts. That video took him over 45 minutes to charge his car at a Tesla Supported/Provided Supercharger station. He was on a trip with his friends and could afford to wait for 45 minutes. At no point have I once talked about the amount of electricity it would need. I have, repeatedly, discussed the infrastructure and the cost.
California has the greatest number of Tesla stations at a over 400 (448). In comparison to over 13,750 gas stations to reach that point of saturation at a cost of over $200,000 per stall and an average between 30 minutes minimum to 12 hours per charge. Realizing that you will also need a place to park all of those EV’s while they charge away from home. Will require an even larger footprint for the land usage.
Do better troll . This Country is in no way able to support the number of Charger stations and the Infrastructure that would require. I get that you are in the bag but at least do your research first. This isn’t about how much additional electricity would be needed. It’s about the Infrastructure requirements. Which at this point do not exist.
Edit: I, at least instead of posting talking points, I provide the links from which I read and pass on information. BTW none are from Big This or Big That.
Actually, no. California often has rolling black/brown outs. Just imagine if they added enough charging stations to support the 35,727,841 registered vehicles they have in California if they were all electric. That is not even looking at how much land would need to be turned into parking lots to support those charging stations.
Yes he did, and as Trump said on X yesterday, he would do exactly the same in reverse if he could. It’s a brilliant strategy. Crime in Venezuela is down over 50% because they emptied their Jails into the USA too. So have several African countries…
BTW, if anyone here missed the live Trump-Musk conversation on X and Truth Social, do yourself a favor and go listen to it.
Neither Kamala or Biden could have ever handled a 2 hour, totally non-scripted broadcast like that. At the end Musk endorsed him saying he’s absolutely voting for him.
BTW during the conversation with Musk, Trump said he’s not against EVs, he said they are a great idea but not for everyone, and Musk said he’s all for supporting the oil companies because right now they are fueling the world.
Funny how no one n the news media quotes these truths…
And EVs make sense for a some folks, and they are not an exclusive choice of tree hugging liberals. My daughter and son-in-law own two Teslas and they love them.
In this town where everything is less than 30 miles away and gas is way higher in price than the national average, their cars get a full tank in their own garage for a fraction of the $80 it takes me to fill up my Jeep Gladiator and they have basically zero maintenance costs and DAMN those are NICE vehicles.
They also own 2 other regular gas vehicles AND a Ford Super Duty extended cab diesel, and are staunch right wing conservatives.
Yeah but our grids are basically on the edge of failure already because of massive neglect and complacency from the monopoly Power companies. I work with high level folks in the industry and they are scared shitless…
But, hey who cares about this, one EMP that causes a national grid failure will take out over 90% of the population of this country…
Monopoly feeding the folks that regulate it through back channels .
The funny part is that many states are now asking the Power Companies to PROVE what improvements to the efficiency, reliability and capacity of their grid have they accomplished with the money they get before allowing rate increases which has many of them scrambling.
Now THIS one they’ll get courtesy of the massive increase in costs due to the overall shutdown of coal power plants and ridiculous rise in diesel and gas.
Say thank you to Jo Puddin’head and his clown VP Chuckles. And all who were foolish enough to vote him in
Everyone should take the time to watch this documentary “Grid Down Power Up”. with Dennis Aqua. You will NOT see this on mainstream media or even a mention of it in the news.
It was recommended to me by an high level industry insider and when I called others to verify, the answer was, “Oh it’s really MUCH worse than that.”!!!
Now remember those Chinese "Weather Balloons’ that Joe just let fly all over the USA with impunity!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??
But, I have tested the acceleration and it’s interesting when you feel the blood rushing to the back of your skull…. The damn thing is crazy nimble for lack of a better word. Turning radius is SMALl. Lane changes require just a SMALL movement of the wheel. Takes a bit to get used to.
He took me for a test drive in a Leaf,… WOW! That thing would scoot!
He also took me out in a GTR,….
Just saying,… I couldn’t get my head off the headrest,… rolling start, 35 to 140 in faster than I could say “wholly f***!!!”
Another buddy has a ford lightning,… nice truck, he never gunned it while I was riding with him but I could definitely feel the instant torque that is available!
Yep, when you separate the vehicles, and the fact they’re electric, from the politics that have developed around EV’s, Tesla’s are dammed good, innovative and worthy American vehicles that have their own place at the table. No one should be looking at them as wholesale replacements for ICE vehicles, but as their own technology with their own strengths and weaknesses, and their strengths are many.
Our VP at work just traded his Ram for a Tesla truck. He loves it. It pulls his 10,000# boat up the ramps like it’s nothing, and will pin you to your seat like a Corvette. It’s got a good useful bed, off road mode (lifts the suspension) and is an honest, working truck (he hunts, so it serves as a hunting truck). He’s also as hard right a conservative as I’ve known. A friend of mine (also red blooded conservative) has the Tesla tri-motor (plaid) car and it’s insane. He was an Air Force flight instructor so he likes things that are fast and high-tech.
