Oh and you realize that I guess there are 5 levels underneath it also. Military security and a hospital and God knows what else. Those maybe covered by the billion, that i heard was shot down, but not the ball room.
LOL, time will tell on this one… I am not whining; I am just telling you what I read about it.
Yeah, of course they would add that. It is something I took for granted, and why wouldn’t you? Just like crap on the roof. There was never any way they could pay for that with the money raised. LOL, well, unless you were not going to pay your contractors…

Im not a fan of all the spending but our govt won’t stop. Doesnt matter who’s in orifice
Guess you have not been keeping up with current events, that ballroom went from $200 Million which supposedly was being paid for by those who want special privileges in Washington to over $1 Billion that the tax payers are now going to fund. You need to keep up with how Trump operates, or are you still waiting on your DOGE Check?
Still time to escape to a better country…
We’ll wait.
I for one don’t mind seeing some upgrades to The White House, Ballroom, underground bunker etc… I’m also good with the improvments/maintenance on the pond and the mall…
Yeah, they should cover it in gold crap too as long as they are at it and money isn’t an issue. Look at all the money DOGE has saved this country. Given my conservative nature, I have wanted to remodel a couple rooms in my very large house (mansion), but I am looking at the cost of it. I have foregone this endeavor in part to be fiscally responsible.
I think everyone is missing the point. We (taxpayers) SHOULD be paying for the ballroom. We should pay for all government expenses. It is corrupt to get donors to pay and then give those donors special govt contracts, handouts, favorable regualtions, etc. Having donors pay for it is a huge conflict of interest any way you slice it.
That said, we don’t need a new ballroom, and the Trump should never have been torn the wing down before there were approved building plans and fed budget approved to pay for it.
You do understand the terms “malignant narcissist,” “self-efficacy,” “megalomaniac,” and “superiority complex.”
Agreed. This being said, it should be put to a vote. Otherwise, you might get someone to fall in love with something like gold and want us to pay for all the tchotchke crap or, even worse, take the crap for favors. Costing the taxpayers even more money. These people have been called “Great American Patriots” for donating (wink wink) what a normal person would call influence peddling.
NOBODY understands those terms as much as you should.
Thank you for acknowledging the two years of psychology I took…

Papa, I said he was paying for the ball room, not the military complex built under it. I know TDS makes some folks fail miserably at comprehension but try it sometime.
All presidents or attleast most change up the white house for their own needs/wants. Anyone vote on the basketball courts obama put in? This is just a bigger project. If it was anybody but trump, no one would say a thing
Hey @Joel106 What part of the White House did Obama knock down to put in the courts? Oh wait, he just painted over some lines on the tennis courts that were already there. Did those lines cost over a billion dollars? Was the rim on the backboard or the backboard itself made of gold?
Do you really believe this history says it a little differently?
Theodore Roosevelt’s West Wing
Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s East Wing
Harry Truman’s gut renovation
I can name a lot more; you can look these up if you want confirmation.
Same thing with comprehension GC, the billion in the appropriations bill was shot down. I already mentioned that.
You guys mentioned on voting for changes, dont care if it was painting new lines ( which probably still costs millions knowing the govt) or putting a swimming pool in, was it voted on? Some here maybe around yet when Roosevelt was in (just kidding) but alot here were around for Ford.
Hell, even the east wing was an addition although I cant remember who was in office at the time.
OK just googled it about Roosevelt doing the east wing.
Yeah, the voting on stuff should have been done before he started it, like any spending. Nixon filled in the indoor pool, so Ford built one outside. Nixon also but in the bowling alley. Good old tricky Dick.
I just found this made me laugh. George H.W. Bush (1989–1993): Added a half-court basketball hoop (1991)
Apparently Bush had game…
Im not saying trump went about this the right way. The funding part doesn’t bother me.
We are the greatest country on this planet, it would be nice to have something nice for formal balls when dignitaries show up.something besides tents
I wouldn’t know. But seeing as this topic title was bout Presidential assassination
attempt, I wonder if holding more events in such a ball room might offer better or more organization around “security”, and offer an indoor event option during winter or inclement weather.
“All” presidents for years and generations to come may be able to use it.
Totally agree. Both parties would agree and probably wouldn’t blink an eye…but trump did it
TDS is real
You can’t seriously compare an outdoor baskball court to demolishing 1/3 of the white house. And yes, modifying the exising tennis court pull double duty as a basketball court did go through official approval by the National Park Service before anything was done. It cost between 50-80k and paid for mostly by Obama himself. What other nonsense do you have for us?
