Deputy Dom Calata has passed away. Our department members remain grateful for the outpouring of support we have received. Please keep Deputy Calata’s family in your prayers during this difficult time.
SO, SO SAD, that these are the things that plague across our country. Criminals have no respect for whom they hurt, and much less when LAW ENFORCEMENT is UPON THEM!
I bow my head in deep respect for the tragic death of officer Dom Calata. The article said he had a big heart. May not a drop of his blood be in vein. May not a tear be shed in pain and may are hearts not be hardened. May he live and be an example in the hearts that he touched.
The person that was being arrested knew that they were coming. He had had 8 felonies on his record and knew he had a warrant for his arrest. His wife pleaded with him to just turn himself in, but he ignored it!
In Washington, Pierce Co. (Tacoma) is south of King Co. (Seattle) and has had a history of LEO shootings. Sadly, the criminals only see the uniform and pull the trigger.
Not sure, but I hope there’s “enhanced” penalties for killing/shooting/injuring a LEO.
I used to live there, and it was home to the “Bloods and Crips” and still is a “gang-land”.
Well - to me, LEO’s are MY gang. We hire, outfit, train and support those men and women who combat criminals and protect law abiding citizens.
It’s painful to read about things like this… Protection of Society comes at a steep price.
There used to be a joke about the Tacoma Police Department. Even the Police are afraid of getting shot by their own. Tacoma Police, they shoot then ask questions.
I have no doubt he’s in the presence of God…may God hold his family close and give them the comfort only He can give…he was so young…Bless him for his service.
