Is this particular officer going to be punished? If so, how? Stupidity is one crime that has not basis for mitigation.

If you trudge through some anti 2a articles (I’m not going to right now), it’s my understanding that lost and stolen police firearms are not an uncommon occurrence throughout the US.

A badge and a gun does not sound like someone has lost or had a weapon stolen. Renting someones home and finding this is not something that should happen.
