long but worth the read…

"As the landscape of autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) systems evolves, there is growing concern that the technology is becoming increasingly strategic—or even deceptive—when allowed to operate without human guidance.

Recent evidence suggests that behaviors such as “alignment faking” are becoming more common as AI models are given autonomy. The term alignment faking refers to when an AI agent appears compliant with rules set by human operators but covertly pursues other objectives.

The phenomenon is an example of “emergent strategic behavior”—unpredictable and potentially harmful tactics that evolve as AI systems become bigger and more complex."

Nothing to worry about here.
A.I. says mankind has a 20% chance of being wiped out within the next 20 - 30 years.
It all started back in the 50’s
Two key names Alan Turing and Geoffrey Hinton ( godfather of A.I. )

Was reading about a coder who was using AI agents to write code and perform q/a and even though he had written instructions for AI to follow when modifying code the AI agents over time began ignoring the instructions because it felt like they were inefficient and slowed it’s time to complete. These were instructions like backing up the code before making changes to the code and documenting changes made.

Yes, well, when one needs to go faster, don’t pay attention to the speed limits.

Yes, it is definitely important to back-up and document those types of changes. I even did that in my SQL and VBA, which were far smaller than code that runs the systems I compiled the data from. Glad I am retired.
