I got to look through a buddies Trijicon ACOG and I loved it. I can’t afford one though. Is there a decent clone out there that doesn’t have a four figure price tag? Honestly I’m probably stuck in the under $200 range. A few sites i read blogs on compared some clones but whatever I pick I’m stuck with for a good while since I just took on a truck payment.
The danger with clones clones is the lack of quality control. You could buy 2 at the same time and have 2 completely different experiences with them. My 2 cents is there a alot of good quality options inside your budget or a little bit more. It’s your rifle run what you want, be safe and enjoy. I’d just hate to see you wish you’d gone a different route.
Again not bashing in any way. Just a word of caution.
Yeah, I like the idea of no battery but Trijicon ACOGs are way outside my budget for awhile to come yet. I will keep looking for something though.
I understand that. I have an Acog on one rifle. The second I have an Aimpoint Pro. The red dot is about 300 to 400 on Ebay. You get 30,000 hours of use out of one battery and can add flip up magnification when your budget allows.
I picked up the Sig Sauer Romeo 5 for plinking at my parents farm. Works great, gets the job done. I got it for $200 with some extra goodies.
I think my biggest problem here is also dealing with a severe astigmatism and beingon a budget. The magnification on the ACOG seemed to help somehow.
Check out the Nikon P223 line. Many options on magnification levels. Some fixed some variable. It has a bdc reticle so holdovers are very easy. It’ll have better eye relief than an ACOG and should be easy enough to find at a gun store to see if it would work. Just a quick search I found many around or under 200.
If you’re dead set on a clone some of those airsoft guys are pretty hardcore with their gear. They’d have some good input. But if you’re using on a real rifle a budget of 200 to 300 you can get decent glass on a rifle that would suite most civilian use.
Welcome Mike, Are you going to get a Juliet magnifier to match?
I guess I can stop looking at these. I won a Sig Romeo 4H with Juliet Magnifier in a raffle this morning. Anybody use this combo? Good? Bad? Somewhere in between?
Congratulations that combo should serve you very well and give you a great baseline for what works for you.
Welcome to the Community, @AnalogMike! I love the Romeo! What firearm do you have it on?
Mail call! Wasn’t kidding about that raffle.
Pretty! I’m slightly jealous
Heck ya. Run it!!!
