Firearms safety is a must. This ruined lives and should never have happened.

Actually I remember when this story was first brought about. I saw it through one of the LEO pages I follow. The LEO community was fit to be tied at the stupidity of playing this game and that it cost a young officer her life.
Unfortunately it’s a very real story.
This article indicates alcohol may have been a factor:
Regardless, all 3 officers involved were trained in firearm use and safety - the 2 playing knew better …
Were drugs or alcohol involved? How does anyone make such a lapse in judgement?
It’s sad when anyone dies, even more so when it’s one so young, but the saddest thing about it (to me), is that it’s because of a stupid choice and completely preventable.
Jane2 you are absolutely correct…a stupid choice and completely preventable.
P365 when I was in the USAF we didn’t believe in accidents. We said these things happened because of either unsafe acts or unsafe conditions or both. I’d say this one was because of both.
Jesus wept.
In Search and Rescue we called it “Death by Stupidity” (yes you can become cynical if you have to pick up enough dead bodies). What a waste of two lives.
On medic runs we called it something much worse. But I won’t say what out of respect
Yup, we do not talk about our dark soul in public. I would never pass a phyc. eval.
that will get to a lot
Worst civilian scene I ever got to. 2 of the 4 occupants were not belted in. 2 were but couldn’t get out of belts.
It’s why I carry so many rescue tools in every car I drive and why I have so many knives and other things on me.
In a wreck stuff goes everywhere.
@Zavier_D I am sure we could share some horror stories but not here. I left SAR 8 yrs. ago but I still carry my Trauma Bag, Ice Rescue gear and a set of light Rappelling gear. I have Nancy’s car set up with a seat belt cutter, window breaker, fire extinguisher and a folding knife in reach of the drivers seat, that’s not counting her get home bag and extra winter gear. Mine is set up similarly and a lot more.
This reminds me of an actor that died in 1984 from playing Russian roulette with a prop gun that had “fake” rounds in it.
Blanks, at very close range, can kill or injure.
