You mean the weak arm supporting the strong arm over the top? I’ve never seen it before personally, but as I try it sitting here, I can see where it gives the flexibility of a one-hand hold with a little extra stability in a dynamic situation.

I would have been surprised if the bus company didn’t have a policy against their drivers carrying. That seems to be par for the course these days.
The question is would the thug have fired his gun if the driver hadn’t pulled his firearm or would he just have threatened the the driver until he let him off? It’s hard to tell from the video who fired first. It might have been the driver??
Though the thug definitely drew his gun first so I can completely understand why the driver wouldn’t want to wait and see if the thug was going to let him live or not.

Absolutely agree. Though when the criminal draws first and you have to react to it you need to decide whether compliance or lethal response gives you the best chance to survive. Sounds like both the criminal and driver were injured so both are lucky to be alive.
I’m not second guessing the drivers response. He was there and had the best read on the situation. Just pointing out that when someone has the drop on you, you have a tough choice to make and should read the situation carefully. Sometimes you have no choice but to risk it and respond with force even though you are starting from behind but sometimes compliance might give you a better chance to survive.

It’s a tough call alright, but considering the perp pulled a gun because he would be inconvenienced by walking a little further, my inclination would be that the perp doesn’t have much regard for human life in general.

Quite probable. Though given most if not all public transportation systems have policies restricting drivers from carrying, the thug may have believed there would be no threat to himself by pulling his gun and the driver would just have let him off. One more reason why anti firearm policies don’t make people safer.

His brazen disregard for his actions considering the circumstances spoke volumes as to whether it might be vital to nip things in the bud.
