West High has historically been a little more lively than most. This part of Salt Lake is pretty well known for gangs, homeless and poor folks.

These are areas where police need to pay a visit to the homes of parents of teens who carry guns on school grounds and take the necessary actions to go after the parents for not locking up those firearms, or if gang affiliated, then go after their leaders and hold them responsible and lock them up. Start sending a message to gang leaders that they will face the same consequences as PARENTS since they can be held responsible for their gangsta teen’s activities and 
Gang leaders have to safely lock up their hardware just like the REST OF THE LAW ABIDING CITIZENS!

In our little town, about 20 years ago, we had drive by shootings, while biweekly, thankfully thugs were as accurate as stormtroopers. I didn’t connect the dots at first but shootings stopped when we had a new police chief replace the one who retired. I can’t recall anymore if there was a change in city council at the time.
IMO it’s a matter of political will.

I’ve been involved in imbedded security a time or two. It’s kind of fun actually. We were assigned to a troop of professional models that walked the runway during Fashion Week. Turns out, it was tougher to keep the girls away from the guys than it was to keep the creeps away from the girls…
