They need to show those planes flying into the WTC and the people jumping to their deaths everyday, several times a day on TV. Remember, “some people did something”

  • Ilhan Omar mentions 9/11 and does not consider it a terrorist attack on the USA by terrorists, instead she refers to it as “Some people did something”, then she goes on to justify the establishment of a terrorist organization (CAIR) on US soil.

For the longest time, people have been afraid to be successful at anything. Now they’re fearful of feeling good.

We should not forget but we should learn. Like in Viet Nam we were conned and propagandize into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The military industrial complex made Billions from them.
While it was almost all Saudi Arabians who flew those airplanes after hijacking them, our government attacked two other nations—why?
Now we have about the same number of dead soldiers as the people who died in the 9/11 attacks. Plus over a million soldiers with disabilities from the actions over the past 20 years, accomplishing nothing. Except we now have made many more enemies; killing people doesn’t make you any friends.
Remember 9/11 but also remember the lessons we should learn. WMDs indeed!

It is very important to remember we pursued the planners of the attacks, not their home countries.

I was in Virginia for work; took an earlier flight from Richmond, VA to Dulles Airport to catch an earlier flight to Colorado. That day, I had “upgraded” my seating assignment to 1st Class with some of my flier points; I was seated next to a United Airlines pilot that was flying to his assignment. When the flight was delayed due to a mechanical issue (something with one of the restrooms) I called home to update my ETA
that is when I found out what was happening. I informed the pilot next to me and he went to the cockpit and closed the door; a short time later he and the copilot left the plane. They both returned about five minutes later and entered the cockpit/cabin; less than a minute later, the exit then leave and never return. The captain came over the radio announcing that a ground hold was in effect and we were going to deplane.
I left the plane and went to the gate area to begin the process of trying to secure a rental vehicle; after some effort, I received my confirmation for a vehicle. As I was leaving, I saw an elderly couple huddled together listening to the news; I knew they were headed to Colorado and offered to give them a ride to the Denver area. They thanked me and said that they were going to wait and fly home; I had to leave them to their choice.
It took several hours to work through the line at the car rental company; lots of frustrated individuals, and emotions. While I was waiting in line to get my vehicle, I heard a woman ask if anyone was headed towards Cleveland, OH; because she was standing next to an older couple, I thought they were together-wrong assumption. Anyway, after getting my keys and confirming my vehicle condition, I went back inside the lobby area and contacted the woman; turns out her and her best friend had just made it to Washington, DC from NYC-they had taken pictures of the towers prior to the plane attacks (some of the last pictures of the towers). I took the two ladies to Cleveland, OH, the company was good to have as we listened to the radio of what was taking place and watching all the emergency vehicles headed to NYC and Washington DC. Little did we know that our route took us right by the Shanksville, PA site; it was not until later that night I realized how close we were in our trip. I spent the next three days alone traveling back to Colorado. I will never forget that day

I was at a truck stop in Georgia just north of Atlanta. My wife called and told me a plane had crashed into the North tower. I turned on my TV and just about 20 minutes latter the second plane hit the south tower, The only words out of my mouth was " We’re being attached."

Off-topic portion of this post has been removed. This thread is about 9/11 and our memories of that day and all of the people who were affected by the terrorists that day. ~Moderators

On America’s day of trial and grief, I saw millions of people instinctively grab for a neighbor’s hand and rally to the cause of one another. That is the America I know."

911, Sept 11, 2001, My story of that day

I was a pilot flying the Boeing 737 for USAir / Metrojet on that day. I think we started the day in Philadelphia. The first leg put us into DCA Ronald Reagan Intl about 0730 or so. As I recall we used Gate 37 located on the north terminal with the 737 tail facing north towards the White House. I looked up at the windows, about 25 ft higher, and saw a middle eastern (ME) man looking north towards the White House (WH). The captain and I went to the concessions stand (donuts, fruits, cereal, hot tea for me etc). As I approached, I see this very well dressed ME man in a Armani $2000 suit. I nodded to him and he looked through me like I wasn’t there. He had a “death stare” 0n his face of stone. The captain joined me at the condiments stand and I mentioned to him “it must be a good day to die!”. He was startled and asked what the hell I was talking about. I explained the death stare. I’ve seen the death stare while I was in the Army. You are dealing with mentally imbalanced people when they have the death stare.

My Capt thought I was crazy and he didn’t want to get involved when I suggested we had the DC police check the guy out. We pushed from the gate and took off unknowning about the NYC attacks. As we climbed through 10,000 feet we contacted New York Center who was controlling all plane traffic over DC area. They were arguing with a Delta Airline crew about their landing destination in LaGuardia. The controller said NYC airspace was closed due an accident. He further elaborated that an airliner hit one of the Trade Towers. He continued “18 minutes later my partner next to me was on his smoking break and he witnessed another airliner hit the other tower.”
The frequency was silent. Completely silent as that statement sunk in. My Captain said it must have been a mid-air collision. I repeated “the controller said there was 18 minutes between the building strikes. We got terrorists” and I stood up and deployed the jumpseat. On the 737 the jumpseat is manually extended and locked into place. I grabbed the fire axe and put it next to my seat. The Captain started to say something when ATC told us to climb. Then he told the Delta to descent to 22,000 ft. The Delta captain said “no, we still have a long ways to go”. The older 737’s had a radio, rarely used now, but you can tune I AM radio stations. I dialed in several stations and we listened to the world in shock. Every station was saying terrorist attacks, with 2 other airliners not responding and flying off course.
Then came the other shoe dropping. ‘MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION. ALL AIRCRAFT ON THIS FREQUENCY. PAY ATTENTION AS I DON’T TIME TO REPEAT MYSELF”. It was the controller and he was very serious. “WE ARE SHUTTING DOWN THE AIRSPACE, NATIONWIDE. YOU SHOULD CONTACT YOUR DISPATCHERS FOR A DESTINATION CHANGE IF IT’S IN THE NYC AREA. LISTEN UP FOR ROLL CALL AND REROUTING INSTRUCTIONS.
A few minutes go by and then the roll call started. Each aircraft acknowledged with call sign and new destination. “Metrojet 980, hmm, lets see, your heading to Raliegh Durham, you are cleared to RDU via direct, maintain FL220, I’d plan on spending the night”

12 minutes after we left Washington DC, the Pentagon was struck by a Boeing 757.

As we were walking to the hotel pickup place, 3 ME men passed us and they were hi-fiving each other laughing. One of them said “I’ll be God Damned. Osama Bin Ladin got it done just like he said he would.
A new war had begun. And pilots were trained to shoot.

I recently retired as a Captain USAirways/American Airbus. I will never forget and I’ll never forgive. So many of us now carry guns in the flight deck.
