.22's ARE SO FUN TO SHOOT

Global warming!!! :joy::skull::skull::skull:

Just a PITA,… and I’m looking to buy acreage, (and an M-82  )…. last thing I need is to drain what little savings I have.

Would you expand on the over-lubrication issues? Does it damage the frame or slide, or does it cause FTF or similar problems that go away with less lubrication?

.22 ammo does not produce a lot of recoil energy to move a metal slide back as it is. When you add a bunch of oil or grease to the equation it makes it even worse by causing the slide to overcome extra resistance and because of .22 ammo being notoriously dirty the extra lubricant just turns into a gunky mess in there making the problem even worse. I’ve fixed a bunch of feeding and cycling issues with .22 pistols by stripping them of all lubricants and running them basically dry.

Lubrication in a CF pistols is more about wear prevention than actual slicking up the works. I’ve shot a bunch of bone dry guns to prove the point to folks and they all work just fine. I only lubricate my carry guns with a THIN film of High Temp high quality bearing grease by applying it with a small artist brush to the slide rails for carry and in the Glocks trigger working surfaces that touch. If I have a heavy range session I might squeeze a drop or two of Mobil 1 on to those rails or the inner works of a revolver, but that’s about it. But I don’t run any pistols wet and I like high temp grease because it stays where you put it.

On the Glock 44s I apply the same VERY THIN coat of grease to the inner rails in the slide after I clean them, which does not happen very often, and that is all.

My 44 has been running fine. I use Hornady 1 Shot. Surprise! The Promag 18 round mags work but I have only been loading 16 rounds. Have not been shooting it much lately since I got the P17’s for my wife and I. Both have the extra red dot slides. I got it to learn how to shoot the red dot and my wife took it so I had to get another one.

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience with the pro-mag magazines. I would love to hear from others that use them, negative or positive.

I’ve been eyeing them for a long time but past experiences with their products have been less than satisfactory.

I would love higher capacity mags and because of that I’ve been eyeing the Taurus .22 with the high cap mag. My friend has been running one for years as his CC qualification gun for inexperienced shooters with no issues and the pricing is really attractive.

I have had bad luck in the past but have lucked out a couple times now. The Ruger Mini 30 10 round mags don’t work. The Promags 10 round mags do. Quite a few of us were having problems with the Ruger mags (bad follower design) and a couple tried the Promags and they worked. Cheaper too. I needed the 10’s for traveling to Kalifornistan. I had a stock for my Ruger American bolt converted to take AK mags. Some had stocks converted to AR mags and are using the Duramags for the AR47. No way to do the Mini 30.

Thanks for sharing. I tried ProMags in a Kahr years back because it was very difficult to buy factory mags. Bought 3 of them and none of them would work worth a damn. They are still in a box somewhere to remind me of my mistake. Tried some of their AR mags that a buddy gave me because he was not having any luck with them in his gun. They failed miserably in mine too.

Found these pictures and thought it appropriate to paste here. Fun with a Glock 44 solo wheeling in the desert. Started with a brick of CCI and did a lot of mag changes. Practical fun!!!

Indeed. How beautiful the contrast of that blue sky and the desert hills.

Living “out West” is an absolute blessing. Just about everywhere I go I find a thousand pictures worth taking.

And this is just from our last outing before the snow completely melted in May.

WOW can relate to that we had a tornado come across a few weeks ago twisted the top out of a oak tree and laid it on my Yukon and damaged our roof as well .

Hello everyone, picked up another .22 last week it’s the Taurus TX .22 and it is so sweet, bought it used, the person that had it did a trigger job on it put one mag through it took it back to the store he bought it at
and sold it, so you can imagine I did get a very good price on it. Took it to my little backyard range and dialed it in, this guy went all out put a red dot optic on it with the shack awake, and also a stream light TLR 7, barrel is threaded and suppressor ready, had a blast shooting it. Would like to know though, is the suppressor worth the cost and paperwork you have to do to get it ?

Here in California, I can’t buy a Glock 44 to shoot 22cal bullets…… so I did the next best thing and bought an Advantage Arms 22cal slide to go on my Glock 19 frame. That way I can I can practice on the same platform. The advantage arms slide is picky on the ammo to use, just buy the recommended ammunition and you will have NO issues… It’s a great teaching tool for newbies to the 2A community and a lot of fun to shoot and very inexpensive to shoot.
