How awful - lured in, protecting others, and ambushed. Awful.
Is it beyond feasibility for all LEO to wear some kind of bulletproof gear? Would it help?

Have you looked at the different levels? Most only stop certain handgun rounds.

I remember after September 11, 2001, and The U.S. War on Terror; I was able to donate towards body armor vests there. I had not realized “not all soldiers were afforded such gear”.

There is no amount of body armor, training, equipment, etc. that can overcome sabotage in the justice system.

This incident and unfortunately many like it are easily avoidable by the proper application of the law and justice system. The suspect in this case should have already been serving a term in prison. Until prosecutors and judges are willing to do their part in upholding the laws, we have on the books these kinds of violent acts will continue.

Oh, but when a LEO blows away a turd like that it’s a different story.
The people that set him fee should be charged with a crim.
